Hidalgo orders probe on death of San Miguel, Bulacan police chief
Central Luzon Police Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. ordered his men to conduct an in-depth and thorough investigation in the killing of San Miguel, Bulacan police chief who was shot and killed by two motorcycle riding men on Saturday, March 25.
Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police director, said that the San Miguel police station received a report at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, regarding an alleged robbery that transpired in Barangay San Juan, San Miguel, Bulacan.
San Miguel police peronnel led by its acting police chief, Lt. Col Serna, immediately went to the are to conduct a follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation to arrest of the suspects.

Upon reaching an area portion in Barangay Bohol na Mangga, San Ildefonso, the operatives saw two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle who fired gun shots towards them, hitting Lt. Col. Serna on his head. Serna was rushed to Emmanuel Hospital but he died while being treated. The suspects fled towards Brgy Akle, San Ildefonso, Bulacan. Hidalgo Jr. said that authorities are exerting all efforts for the swift justice of the slain police officer. “This is unfortunate news for us as one of our members was killed in line with our diligent efforts to arrest lawless elements and while nothing can make up for his loss, along with our deepest condolences, we assure his bereaved family that they will get the necessary benefits that are due for them. Still, we are committed to our fight against all forms of criminality and we will continue to be relentless in our campaign at all costs," he said. Hidalgo also announced that the DILG will give P500,000 reward and an additional P300,000 from Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) to anyone who could provide information that will help identify the suspects. Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando also offered P200,000, while the Philippine National Police will also give another P200,000 reward. Arnedo also asked the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause panic and confusion.
