Comelec likely to hold special elections in 12 Lanao del Sur barangays- PNP
The Commission on Elections would likely conduct special elections in a town in Lanao del Sur after voters from 12 of its barangays were not able to cast their votes on election day on Monday.
Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, director of the PNP Directorate for Operations and concurrent commander of the police's national and local elections task force, said there were unforeseen incidents that occurred in 12 barangays of Tuburan town that resulted in the failure of the local residents to vote.

"This municipality has 21 barangays but voters in 12 of the barangays were not able to vote," said De Leon.
"Most likely, the Comelec (Commission on Elections) would conduct a special election in this area," he added.
De Leon visited the municipal hall of Tuburan based on the Comelec request for police presence after some people were blocking the transportation of vote-counting machines.
He said the presence of policemen in Tuburan is to ensure peace and order and to accomplish the electoral process in the area.
