The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is eyeing the suspension of overseas voting in seven countries.

"I think we will be declaring a suspension of election in certain areas like in Baghdad, Iraq; in Tripoli, Algeria, Chad, Tunisia, Libya; in Islamabad, Afghanistan; and in Ukraine, Warsaw," Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo, the Commissioner-in-Charge for the Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV), said in a press briefing Wednesday, April 6.
"The total affected overseas voter is only 127. So its quite small," he added.
Data from the poll body showed there is no overseas voting capabilities in Iraq, Algeria,Chad, Tunisia and Libya.
As for Afghanistan and Ukraine, it cited the implementation of the mandatory repatriation.
Casquejo said the en banc also recently approved the suspension of voting for the post of Shanghai in China.
"As we know there is an indefinite lockdown in Shanghai. But once the lockdown is lifted then we will proceed with the voting in Shanghai. And in Shanghai PE we only have 1,600 plus registered voters," he said.
"The OFOV is still waiting for formal confirmation from the DFA-OVS as to the Posts' capacity to conduct overseas voting for the active registered overseas voters," added Casquejo.
