ILOILO CITY – The Catholic Church and the provincial government are preparing for the canonical installation of  the new archbishop of Capiz in May.

The Archdiocese of Capiz and Gov. Fredenil Castro have met to get ready for the assumption of Bishop Victor Bendico.

Monsignor  Cyril Villareal, Fr. Berman Ibañez, Fr. Paul Henry Bocboc, Fr. Vivencio Besa Jr., Fr. Gybbyn Gumban, and Fr. Raul Ticar Jr. updated Castro on the existing preparatory works for the event on May 2.

They asked Castro for permission to use the facilities of the Capiz provincial government, including the Capiz Gym, which can host other activities aside from the canonical installation at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral.

They told Castro that many bishops from across the country will attend the canonical installation as well as thousands of faithful.

Castro said that the provincial government will extend any to assistance to the event.

Bendico was appointed to replace now Manila Archbishop Jose Advincula earlier this month by Pope Francis.
