BBM-Sara sustains lead in April 2022 OCTA survey

Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and vice presidential bet Mayor Sara Duterte sustained their lead in the OCTA Research April 2022 elections nationwide survey, the independent research group said on Thursday, May 5.

The “Tugon ng Masa” in-person survey, which was conducted from April 22 until April 25, covered only 2,400 respondents across the country. It likewise showed that 62 percent of the respondents in Visayas are in favor of Bongbong’s presidential candidacy.

Meanwhile, in second place was Vice President Leni Robredo. Compared to OCTA’s previous survey, Robdredo’s nationwide votes went up from 22 to 25 percent. This was attributed to an increase in support from Metro Manila (19 percent), Balanced Luzon (28 percent), Visayas (28 percent), and Mindanao (12 percent).

At third place was Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno with a nationwide rating of 8 percent, followed by Senator Manny Pacquio with a rating of 5 percent.

Ping Lacson garnered the fifth place with a percentage of 2 percent. He was followed by Faisal Mangondato with a nationwide percentage of 1 percent.

Norberto Gonzales and Leody De Guzman both received 0.2 percent of votes.

Sara Duterte top choice for VP, says OCTA

Mayor Duterte, Bongbong’s running mate, likewise sustained her lead in the vice presidential race, said OCTA Research.

The survey, which was conducted during the same period, likewise had a total of 2,400 respondents.

Duterte received a nationwide rating of 56 percent. Duterte’s vice presidential candidacy was supported by at least 46 percent of the respondents in Metro Manila, 49 percent in Balanced Luzon, 61 percent in Visayas, and 82 percent in Mindanao.

In second place was Senate President Vicente Sotto with a rating of 22 percent. He was followed by Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan with a nationwide rating of 16 percent.

On the other hand, Willie Ong garnered 4 percent of nationwide votes while Lito Atienza had 1 percent.

Other candidates received less than 1 percent of voter preference.

Domagoso top second choice for president

The respondents were likewise asked to name their second choice for president and Domagoso, with a rating of 12 percent, topped the list.

He was followed by Robredo with 11 percent of nationwide voter preference.

OCTA’s data showed that the majority of those who will vote for Robredo were in the age group of 18-24 years old.

At third place was Marcos (8 percent) followed by Pacquiao (7 percent), Lacson (7 percent), De Guzman (1 percent), and Gonzales (1 percent).

Other candidates received less than 1 percent of votes.

Meanwhile, upon being asked if this will reflect in the May 9 polls, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David reiterated that the country cannot declare a winner based on survey results alone. He then encouraged the public to “go out and vote” on May 9.
