The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has reiterated its commitment to streamlining government processes and regulations concerning the country's import and export industry to pursue a more robust Philippines.

ARTA director-general Secretary Ernesto Perez said this after he received this year's Partner of the Industry Award from the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (SEIPI) early this month.

In his speech, Perez recognized the SEIPI for its continued active collaboration with the public sector, saying it helped give them a "realistic view" of what it was like transacting with the government.

"ARTA's continued collaboration with the private sector, like SEIPI, has been exceptionally helpful in getting a realistic view of the private sector's experience in transacting with the government," Perez said, citing the steadfast presence of SEIPI in stakeholder consultations.

The ARTA also recognized the importance of the industry to stimulate economic growth.

The Partner of the Industry Award is given annually by the country's largest organization of foreign and Filipino electronics companies to recognize outstanding individuals and institutions that contributed significantly to the development of the Philippine semiconductor and electronics industry.

The SEIPI has cited Perez "for his exceptional public service to promote the efficient delivery of government services and improve the ease of doing business for the semiconductor and electronics industries."

The group noted that as of May 2022 year-to-date, cumulative electronics exports reached $19.00 billion, or 59.60 percent of the total Philippine exports.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) cited the export trade as one of the drivers of the country's economic activity.
