121 out of 173 COCs canvassed by Comelec

Thirty-nine more certificates of canvass (COCs) were canvassed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc on the third day of the canvassing on Thursday, May 12.

Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan presided over the continuation of the canvassing of the senatorial and party-list elections at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

With this, the Comelec has so far canvassed 121 out of the total 173 COCs that are expected to be counted for this year's polls. Of the canvassed COCs, three were manually prepared while 118 others were electronically transmitted.

Among the canvassed COCs on Wednesday were from Cavite, Cagayan, Bataan, Zamboanga del Norte, Makati, Northern Samar, Laguna, Zamboanga del Sur, Cotabato, and Samar.

There were several COCs as well from overseas absentee voting (OAV) such as Italy, New Zealand, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia among others.

The Comelec has yet to release the partial and official results of the senatorial and partylist elections covered by the 121 canvassed COCs.

Action star Robin Padilla and ACT-CIS Partylist led the senatorial and partylist elections, respectively, based on 82 COCs that were canvassed by the Comelec from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The Comelec en banc suspended the canvassing of votes around 7 p.m. It will reconvene around 1 p.m. Friday, May 13.
