* Jov Fernandez fired 14 points off 11 attacks and three blocks for the Lady Tamaraws, who recovered from their recent loss to the National University Lady Bulldogs to even their win-loss record at 4-4. Cheenie Tagaod also contributed 10 points. Unlike their first-round meeting, the Lady Tamaraws refused to extend the match as they made quick work of the hapless Fighting Maroons by dictating the pace throughout. “Magandang balita ito. I mean para sa team magandang motivation yung win and coming to the second round yun talaga ang aim namin eh, yung win,” said FEU head coach Tina Salak. Jewel Encarnacion and Niña Ytang scored 14 and 10 points for UP, which absorbed its fifth straight loss and skidded to a 1-7 slate.
