Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo emerged as the top government spokesperson in the Philippines, a non-commissioned and independent survey showed.

The “Boses ng Bayan” nationwide survey led by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. conducted from Feb. 25 to March 8, covering at least 10,000 adult respondents, proclaimed Lamentillo as the highest-rated spokesperson in the country.

“[This] confirms that Anna Mae Lamentillo of DICT is the top government spokesperson in the Philippines with an 89 percent performance rating,” RPMD said.

Lamentillo was followed by Mico Clavano of the Department of Justice (87 percent); Daphne Oseña-Paez of the Presidential Communications Office (85 percent); Goddess Hope Libiran of the Department of Budget and Management (84 percent), Cesar Chavez of the Department of Transportation (82 percent); Marge Gutierrez of the Department of Interior and Local Government (81 percent); Beverly Ho of the Department of Health (80 percent); and Michael Poa of the Department of Education (78 percent).

The recognition, according to Lamentillo, inspires the DICT to continue striving towards a digitally competitive Philippines.

“We will continue to work 24/7 to ensure that every barangay in the Philippines is connected to the internet. Digital rights are human rights. If we want to achieve a genuine, more equitable society — we need to close the digital divide and end the digital gender gap. I thank President Bongbong Marcos and Secretary Ivan Uy for the opportunity to be part of a movement that would empower girls, indigenous communities, and marginalized individuals,” said Lamentillo.

Lamentillo took oath as the DICT’s Undersecretary in 2022. She actively takes part in the administration’s vision of making the country a “fully digitalized” nation.
