On Int'l Women's Month: PH Red Cross honors women's role in humanitarian work
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), in a statement on Friday, March 24, expressed its gratitude and recognition for the valuable role that women play in its humanitarian works.
"The PRC is proud to have many women volunteers and staff who have dedicated themselves to serving their fellow Filipinos. Their contributions are invaluable, and we are grateful for their unwavering commitment to our mission," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.
PRC added that women are "integral members of the PRC workforce, serving as staff and volunteers in various capacities."
It also acknowledged the women volunteers and staff who dedicated their time and effort to assist those in need through PRC.
"Women make up a significant portion of the organization's workforce and have played a crucial role in responding to emergencies and disasters in the Philippines," it added.
PRC assured that it is committed to promoting gender equality and women empowerment in all aspects of its operations through providing training and development programs to enhance the skills of female staff and volunteers.
The organization added that it is also encouraging women to take on leadership roles and participate in decision-making processes.
"The PRC recognizes the challenges that women face in their pursuit of humanitarian work. Women often juggle multiple responsibilities, including caring for their families and pursuing their careers. The organization is committed to providing support and assistance to women volunteers and staff to ensure that they are able to fulfill their roles effectively," said PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn T. Pang.
