Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto visited on Friday, March 24, the families who were displaced by a fire incident last Thursday, March 23, at Sikap Compound Ismar in Barangay Kalawaan, Pasig City.
Sotto, accompanied by City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) Chief Bryant Wong, conducted an ocular inspection of the conditions of the families at the Isma Covered Court Evacuation Center.
They were also present at the center to ensure the safe and equal distribution of relief goods.

According to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the incident displaced a total of 70 families or 217 individuals. However, 43 families or 132 individuals were recorded at the evacuation center. The other 27 families opted to temporarily stay with their relatives in nearby areas. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the fire in the Kalawaan neighborhood to third alarm at 5:10 a.m. It was put out by firefighters at 5:37 a.m. [Three men sustained minor injuries](https://mb.com.ph/2023/3/23/3-men-hurt-in-pasig-fire) during the incident. Around 54 houses were totally damaged and 16 were partially damaged. The local government provided the victims with family kits and relief boxes containing food packs.

As per the Pasig Public Information Office (PIO), the affected families will each receive cash assistance from the local government.
The financial aid can either be used by the families to pay for initial house rentals or for buying construction materials if they owned the land of their burned residence.
Land or house owners will get P10,000, while renters or sharers will receive P5,000.
The CSWD estimated 27 house owners, 20 renters, and 23 sharers among the affected families.

Civic organizations and groups donated hot meals, water, used clothing, and food packs to the center.
The food for the 132 displaced persons and 40 barangay and local government staff at the center will be provided by the barangay from Friday, March 23 to Sunday, March 26.
By Monday, March 27, the food will be provided by the Pasig Community Kitchen.
