The debuting General Santos Warriors found their range in the fourth quarter and subdued the Mindoro Disiplinados, 87-78, on Thursday, March 23, in the OKBet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fifth Season at the Star Arena in Baliwag, Bulacan.

Joson, a prized acquisition from the Marikina Shoemasters, led the Warriors with 26 points, including 3 triples, 4 rebounds and 2 steals to earn best player honors. He was followed by Fajarito, a former star of the Letran Knights, with 16 points, including 3 triples, and 6 rebounds. Felx Apreku also shone for GenSan with 11 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, plus 3 assists and 2 steals, while Elorde ably orchestrated the Warriors' plays and wound up with 11 points and 5 assists. Veteran Teytey Teodoro, drilling in 5 triples, and Richard Abanes carried the fight for Mindoro with 17 points each. Mindoro, which absorbed its third straight loss, got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Kristian Hernandez and 10 points each from Sherwin Concepcion and Kerr Bangeles. Unable to hit their stride, the Warriors trailed, 30-40, before Fajarito, Joson, Elorde and John Orbeta dropped a 10-point salvo to knot the halftime count at 40. Trailing the Disiplinados by 3 points, the Warriors clustered 12 points to regain control, 65-56, of the tight game which saw 7 lead changes and 10 ties.
