Traffic enforcer dies after being run over by 14-wheeler truck in QC
A traffic enforcer died after he was run over by a 14-wheeler trailer truck along A. Bonifacio Avenue, Quezon City on Wednesday, March 22.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the traffic enforcer as Jeffrey Antolin, a resident of Tinagan St., Brgy. Jose, Quezon City.
According to the police report, Joel Dimacali, the driver of the Isuzu Tractor Head, was driving along A. Bonifacio Avenue, Barangay Balingasa from the direction of Sergeant Rivera St. towards North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) at about 5:30 a.m., when he hit a standing traffic enforcer who was directing people who were crossing the pedestrian lane at the time.
Based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the traffic enforcer already signaled the vehicles to stop so people could cross the pedestrian lane, but the speeding truck did not stop and run over him.
The victim was brought to Manila Central University (MCU) but was later pronounced dead.
Police said the suspect will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
