South Korea is now joining the Philippines in the clean up of the oil spill that has spread across different provinces from Oriental Mindoro.
According to the South Korean Embassy in Manila, members of the Korean Coast Guard will be sent to the country to assist its Filipino counterpart.
They will arrive on March 27 and will stay for a week.
The Korean government will also provide cleaning equipment, including 20 tons of sorbet pads and snares; 1,000 meters of solid flotation curtain boom; and 2,000 sets of personal protective equipment.
"This is the first time Korea has provided assistance for the prevention of marine pollution," the embassy said.
South Korea is the third country to help in the clean up of an oil spill caused by the sunken MT Princess Empire after Japan and the US.
Both Japan and the US sent its oil and environmental experts as well as donated equipment for the efforts.
"Korea highly values the importance of restoring areas affected by environmental disasters and accidents," the embassy added.
