ILOILO CITY—The power firm of magnate Enrique Razon Jr. and property developer Megaworld Corp. vowed stronger partnership for the growth of Metro Iloilo. "We are proud to have been part of Iloilo's journey towards progress and will remain committed to contributing in the region's economic and social development," said Razon. The business magnate was in Iloilo City last Wednesday for the inauguration of the sub-station of MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power), which he owns. The sub-station with a maximum of 36 megavolt ampere (36 MVA) is located at Iloilo Business Park, Megaworld's township at the old airport in Mandurriao district. "Transforming Iloilo City into a world-class investment hub in this part of the country, is our vision that we equally share in the Iloilo City local government and MORE Power," added Megaworld Executive Vice President Kevin Tan. From Iloilo City, MORE Power is set to expand its power distribution to towns in the 2nd and 4th congressional districts of Iloilo province. "Through Iloilo Business Park, we have made investment destinations in this part of the country. We take pride in this 72-hectare township. It is currently our most successful township outside of Luzon," noted Tan. The township has a mall, hotels, restaurants, an art museum, buildings for business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, and several condo buildings. Also present at the March 22 inauguration were MORE Power President and CEO, Roel Castro, and Iloilo City Mayor, Jerry Treñas.
