Malacañang has appointed former Court of Appeals (CA) associate justice Monina Arevalo-Zenarosa as a new commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said on Thursday, March 23.
The announcement on Twitter came with a photo of Zenarosa taking his oath at the Office of the Executive Secretary.
“Sa kanyang malawak na karanasan sa larangan ng batas at pangangalaga sa karapatang pantao, magiging responsable si CHR Commissioner Zenarosa sa pagpapatupad ng mga karapatan ng lahat ng Pilipino, partikular na ng mga marhinalisado (In her vast experience in the field of law and the protection of human rights, CHR Commissioner Zenarosa will be responsible for implementing the rights of all Filipinos, particularly the marginalized),” the post read.
It was Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin who administered the new commissioner‘s oath-taking in Malacañang.
Her appointment came after two other officials were named by Marcos to make up the five-appointments in the government body.
The two others were lawyer Richard Paat Palpal-latoc as the new chairperson and lawyer Beda Epres as commissioner.
