P3 M marijuana plants destroyed, six drug pushers busted in Cordillera operations

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Over P3 million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted and burned, while six drug personalities were arrested in a day-long intensified anti-illegal drugs operations in the different provinces of Cordillera. A total of 6,300 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants, 15 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks and with an overall Standard Drug Price of  P3,060,000 were discovered in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, and Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet on Monday, March 20. The continuous search for clandestine marijuana plantation sites is one of the marching orders of newly installed regional director of Police Regional Office-Cordillera, Brig. General David Peredo, Jr. Reports said two high value individuals identified as Christopher Bajit, 44, and Fidel Coyub, 27, and four street level individuals -- John Kenneth Sambrano, 26, John Dave Suan, 24, Shanon Codiamat, 20, and Junar Daguioa, 20 -- were arrested in a drug bust operations. In Benguet, suspects Sambrano and Suan were arrested by joint operatives of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) after they were caught in a drug session in Barangay Betag, La Trinidad. During their arrest, operatives seized one plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.5 grams and value of P3,400. Also, joint operatives of Tublay MPS and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Benguet PPO arrested Codiamat and Daguioa while in a drug session in Barangay Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet. Operatives confiscated one plastic sachet of suspected 0.3 gram of shabu worth P2,040 from the suspects. In Tabuk City, Kalinga, suspect Coyub was arrested by joint operatives of the Tabuk City Police Station and PDEU of Kalinga PPO after he sold .3 grams of shabu worth P2040 to a police officer acting as a buyer during an operation. In Baguio City, joint operatives of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) arrested suspect Bajit in Barangay Loakan Liwanag, after he sold three sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 1.21 grams worth P8,228 to a police officer acting as poseur buyer.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of their respective operating units for documentation.
