Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo has inaugurated a masjid inside the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters in Taguig City to provide its personnel and the Muslim community in the area a place for worship.
Okubo said the masjid will cater to the Muslim police personnel and their dependents as well as the Muslim community in Taguig City.
“We recognize the contribution of our Muslim brothers and sisters in the service to our country. The construction of the first masjid inside Camp Bagong Diwa is a symbol of respect to their religious belief,” said Okubo.
The masjid is located at the 7th Mobile Force Company Building in Bicutan.
The inauguration was attended by other NCRPO officials and Maulana Mahdi Batua, the Grand Imam of Masjid As-Shafii.
Okubo said the construction of the masjid inside the NCRPO compound is in line with the order of national police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. to bring the police closer to the community.
