City Athletic Meet 2023 opens in Parañaque

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez led the opening of the 2023 City Athletic Meet (CAM) held at Baclaran Elementary School Central on March 22. According to Olivarez, the CAM is a competition for athletes coming from public and private schools who won in their own fields of sports at the preliminary level. Olivarez said winners of the CMA will represent Parañaque City in the National Capital Region (NCR) Palaro. Those who will win in the NCR Palaro will compete in the Palarong Pambansa. The mayor, who is also a tennis athlete, stressed the importance of sports especially among the youth to strengthen their discipline and perseverance. Olivarez said sports is the best leisure activity for the youth that will prevent them from engaging in drugs use or other illegal activities that will cause them harm. He said being an athlete may also open educational opportunities through athletic scholarships. Aside from the mayor, 1st District Representative Edwin L. Olivarez, Barangay Baclaran Captain Julius Anthony “Jun” Zaide, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Evangeline P. Ladines, and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Violeta Gonzales also attended the opening of 2023 CMA.
