'Sobrang kawawa na ako': Teves says he and Degamo family are both 'victims'
Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep. Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr. believes that he is a "victim", just like the family of slain Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
"Pareho lang kami ng pamilya Degamo na biktima dito. Biktima sina Degamo, ako rin biktima dahil ginagamit ako ng marami dyan for political mileage (Me and the Degamo family are both victims here. The Degamos are victims, and also me since a lot of people out there are using me for political mileage)," Teves said in his latest Facebook video message.
The video message was posted at past 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21.
"Sobrang kawawa na ako, ginamit niyo pa ako para sa negosyo, ginagamit niyo pa ako for political mileage. Wag naman sana (I'm so pitiful already, and yet you're using me for business and also for political mileage)," the controversial solon said.
By "business", Teves was alluding to the "angle" that he was being assailed by the people who want to ease him out of the lucrative e-sabong or electronic cockfighting industry.
"Mayroon daw mga tao na gusto nilang masolo yung e-sabong kaya kinakana nila ako. Matagal ko nang sinabi, wala na ako dyan (Allegedly there are people who want to have e-sabong for themselves, that's why they're attacking me. I've been saying for along time that I'm no longer connected to it)," he said.
"Kung gusto niyong magnegosyo ng e-sabong.magnegosyo kayo. Wala nanman pumipigil sa inyo eh. Ewan ko lang kung papayag si President BBM (If you want to put up an e-sabong business, they do so. Nobody is stopping you. I just don't know if President BBM would allow that)," he said.
Teves further said, without mentioning anybody in particular: "Yung mga nagbabalak dyan tumakbo, senador, ano mang gusto niyo, tumakbo lang kayo. Wag kayo manira at gumamit ng ibang tao para sa inyong pansariling kapakanan (To those who are planning to run for senator, or whatever post, go run. Just don't assail or use other people for your personal benefit)."
"Sigurado ako ayaw ni Presidente BBM yan (I'm sure President BBM doesn't like that)," added the former deputy speaker, who is being implicated in the March 4 assassination of Degamo in Pamplona, Negros Oriental.
"Again, nananawagan ako sa ating mahal na Presidente: Mr. President, sobra na yung ginagawa ng ibang tao sa gobyerno sa akin. Masyado na nila akong dinidiin, kinakawawa, at inaaapi (I once again appeal to our beloved President: Mr. President, what some people in government are doing to me is too much. They're persecuting and oppressing me too much)," he said.
