A 4.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Davao Oriental on Wednesday afternoon, March 22, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake struck 2 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental around 12:28 p.m.
Its instruments recorded the tremor at Intensity III (weak) in Malungon, Sarangani and Tupi, South Cotabato.
It was also recorded at Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) in Magpet and Kidapawan City in Cotabato; Davao City and Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental; and General Santos City, Tampakan and Koronadal City in South Cotabato.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
However, it does not expect damage or aftershocks because of this earthquake.
