Great Wall Motor (GWM) and its Philippine distributor, Luxuriant Automotive Group, Inc. (LAGI), are set to launch GWM's lineup of vehicles in April. The first four models previewed by LAGI include the Jolion, Jolion HEV, H6 HEV, and the GWM Cannon. The crossovers are all built on GWM’s Intelligent Modular Architecture which is designed to be lightweight and flexible for improved safety and maximum efficiency.
For the Philippine market, GWM will be offering hybrid electric powertrains for the H6 and the Jolion, boasting efficient driving performance while keeping overall costs low. The Intelligent Modular Architecture also allows for easy integration with other components such as advanced driver assistance systems which can give drivers enhanced safety features.
The Jolion HEV combines a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a total output of 186 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. The larger H6 HEV features a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder with two electric motors to deliver 240 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque. Both models are equipped with a 1.8-kWh lithium-ion battery.
*The GWM Haval H6 hybrid electric crossover*GWM's hybrid system is distinct from other hybrids which typically use CVTs or dual clutch gearboxes. This system, known as a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), works by having a two-speed gearbox with a fixed shaft that the electric motor helps to shift seamlessly. Although GWM have not yet released pricing information on any of their vehicles, we anticipate it will be competitive.
A non-hybrid version of the Jolion will also be available, powered by a traditional 1.5 liter internal combustion engine that produces 156 hp and 220 Nm of torque mater to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
Stay tuned for more information, like pricing, when Great Wall Motor officially launches their lineup at the Manila International Auto Show this April.
