The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) warned the public against a fraud website that uses the agency’s name to offer college scholarships.

“The Department of Social Welfare and Development wishes to inform the public that ‘DSWD Financial Assistance’ is not an official DSWD Facebook page, which has a post offering scholarships to college students,” said DSWD in Filipino in a post on its official social media page on Monday, March 20.

“The DSWD would like to clarify—this is fake news, and the DSWD does not have such a Facebook page,” it added.

It reminded the public to be careful when clicking or opening links on posts by unverified accounts, and urged them to report these immediately using the report option on social media sites to stop spreading false information.

To be updated on DSWD programs, the public is encouraged to visit its official website dswd.gov.ph and follow their official Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts @dswdserves and Instagram account @dswdphilippines.

Meanwhile, if there is a question, request, or complaint about the DSWD’s programs and services, just call their hotline numbers 0934 464 8026, 0943 464 8086, 0932 933 3251, 0995 715 3926, or 0995 715 3934, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Monday to Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, including holidays.
