Driver dies, helper hurt in road crash in Quezon

TAGKAWAYAN, Quezon – A driver died and his helper was injured when their truck crashed into a tree on Wednesday morning, March 22, on the Quirino Highway in Barangay San Francisco in this town. Police identified the fatality as Jose Aquino, 31, a resident of San Jose Oco, Viga, Catanduanes. Investigation said the truck loaded with scrap materials overtook another vehicle but the brakes failed. The truck swerved to the left and crashed into a mango tree. Aquino died on the spot due to severe injuries while his helper, Nicky Jiggs Abraham, 21, a resident of Quezon, Catanduanes, was injured and taken by responders to the hospital. Incident investigation is ongoing.
