The X1 is all-new for this model year and it’s made evident with the large new single piece kidney grille, LED headlights that stretch out towards the corners, and aggressive lower bumper styling. The sides boast of a cleaner design paired with sporty side skirts. Large 18-inch wheels add to the urban style. Behind, the biggest change are the broad LED taillights, tailgate with integrated spoiler, and similarly aggressive rear bumper.

The real treat is the thoughtfully designed interior. It features a sophisticated cabin that features an LED line that runs around the cabin. The X1 gets BMW’s signature Live Cockpit Plus, which is composed of a large 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with dynamic displays. Infortainment is displayed on a 10.7-inch touchscreen in the center running on version 8.0 of BMW’s operating system. The touchscreen is intuitive to use, but it also includes voice command for even more convenience. Naturally, it’s compatible with smart phones via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wired).

Passengers will enjoy the Sensatec perforated black leather on the seats as well as numerous USB-C slots to charge or connect media. There are also two 12V power sockets for other kinds of chargers.

Another unique feature is the floating center armrest in front which houses transmission and entertainment controls. This leaves more space to store items underneath it like drinks in the cupholder or even a small bag.

It may be the smallest crossover in the lineup, but there is no shortage of storage space. The X1 boast of 540 liters of volume with the rear seats up, and increases to 1,600 liters when down.

Powering the X1 is an all-new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo diesel four-cylinder engine. It produces 150-PS at 4,000 rpm and 350-Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. It passes through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to drive the front wheels.
