Stranger stabs young man to death in Negros fiesta

BACOLOD CITY – A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death while his companion was injured by a stranger during a fiesta in Purok Kalubihan, Barangay Amayco, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Sunday, March 19. Capt. Marc Joeil Reclamado, Murcia police chief, said the fatality, Novie Star Dequito, and his companion, Niel Salazar, 19,  were having a drinking session when Dequito went to the suspect’s table. Moments later, a commotion followed and the suspect stabbed Dequito, Reclamado said. Salazar tried to pacify them but he was also stabbed by the suspect who fled afterwards, Reclamado added. Victims were brought to a hospital but Dequito was declared dead on arrival. Salazar was transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here. Reclamado said they already have a person of interest.
