Mich Morente and Jovie Prado fired 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the High Speed Hitters, who rediscovered their form and erase a stinging 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 Game 1 loss over the weekend to keep their final hopes alive in their best-of-three semis affair.
Morente and Prado sizzled at the attack lane by conspiring for 27 kills particularly midway in the second frame.
The High Speed Hitters squandered their 19-16 lead in that set with their erratic plays as the Angels grabbed a 21-19 upperhand, but Morente and Prado were there to the rescue with powerful kills and solid blocks.
Morente closed out that set with a kill and block, setting the tone for PLDT in the ensuing sets as the Petro Gazz completely lost steam.
Mary Ann Mendrez and Mika Reyes also shone for the High Speed Hitters with 11 points apiece, while Kath Arado took charge of the floor defense with 26 digs and 12 receptions.
Jonah Sabete scored 13 points, while Grethcel Soltones and Aiza Pontillas managed 12 points apiece, but their efforts weren’t enough to salvage Petro Gazz.
Game 3 will be on Thursday, March 23, at the same venue with PLDT seeking to keep the momentum going and book a finals berth.
