PH Red Cross to conduct simultaneous activities on World Water Day
The Philippines Red Cross (PRC) on Wednesday, March 22, will conduct simultaneous water advocacy campaigns in celebration of the World Water Day.
These will be held in schools and communities across PRC's 102 chapters nationwide, the organization said in a statement on Tuesday, March 21.
This year's theme, "Accelerating Change," encourages the public to save water and break the taboo on toilets, water, and menstruation.
"Promoting gender equality, the campaign advocates that fetching water should be a shared task between women and men and girls and boys," PRC added.
PRC noted that the advocacy also aims to inspire people to learn how water is treated and distributed.
"Water is essential to maintain human life and dignity. Part of the immediate humanitarian aid we deploy whenever there is a disaster is our water tankers. Right now we have 28 water tankers strategically located across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and ready to be deployed when needed," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.
