The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed a two-storey school building with eight classrooms in Oriental Mindoro.
In a statement, the department said the building benefit 80 percent of the students from the Hanunuo Mangyan tribe.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the building is Barangay San Roque in Bulalacao town--inside the Gatol High School, adidng that it can accommodate more or less 161 students.
“The school building will benefit high school learners from Barangays San Roque, Benli, and Nasucob,’’ the DPWH said.
The provision of school buildings especially in far-flung areas is deemed necessary to increase the educational interest of the children, promote social activities, bridge gaps and eventually decrease poverty in the long run.
