QC cops nab 4 for robbery, attempted homicide, malicious mischief
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) personnel arrested three men and a woman for robbery, attempted homicide, and malicious mischief in separate places in Quezon City on Sunday, March 19.
Lt. Col. Mark Janis Ballesteros, QCPD Talipapa Station commander, identified one of the arrested suspects as Expedito Ursua, 61, a resident of Barangay. Apolonio Samson, Quezon City.
Police said Joseph Sarsona and Cesar Manuel, both Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel, conducted clearing operation along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), Balintawak, in the said barangay at around 8:40 p.m.
Sarsona was about to get cardboard scraps and other things he spotted on the center island along the road when the suspect suddenly appeared and threw a stone at him.
Sarsona was able to dodge the stone but it hit and destroyed the MMDA truck's windshield.
The MMDA personnel sought help from police officers who were conducting anti-criminality operations. They arrested the suspect near a convenience store in the area.
The suspect will be charged with attempted homicide and malicious mischief before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, the QCPD said.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Louie Jay Entor, 18, of Montalban, Rodriguez, Rizal, was arrested by QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 4) operatives for robbery along Quirino Highway in Brgy. Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City on the same day.
Police said complainant Raechille Sawali was walking along the said road with her brother at around 8 p.m. when when the suspect suddenly took her cellphone and fled.
Sawali and her brother chased the suspect, catching the attention of bystanders and operatives who were patrolling the area.
The suspect was arrested in front of a bank on Quirino Highway. Recovered from him was the victim's cellphone P11,000.
Meanwhile, Joey Fuentes, 46 , and Elaiza Mae Fuentes, 18, both residents of Caloocan City, were arrested by the police at Susano Market, Brgy. Sta Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City, by the same operatives on Sunday.
Police said victim Shaina Pagador was manning her store when the suspects who posed as customers approached her.
The female suspect then took the cellphone of victim which was placed on top of the display box and handed it over to her cohort . They fled towards Quirino Highway.
The victim immediately sought the assistance of vendors and the patrolling police officers, resulting in the arrest of both suspects and the recovery of a mobile phone worth P9,000.
A case of robbery will be filed against suspect Entor, while the two other suspects will be charged with theft.
