Metro Manila, Lanao del Norte students win at 25th Philippine Mathematical Olympiad
Two students from Metro Manila and one from Lanao del Norte emerged as the winners in the national finals of the 25th Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO).Â
The PMO is a qualifying competition for junior and senior high school students that will choose the Philippine contestants to the 64th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) that will be held in Chiba, Japan on July 2-13 this year.Â

Twenty students qualified to compete in the National Stage held on March 18 and 19 wherein they answered and solved eight problems. Winning as champion in the PMO National Stage is Filbert Ephraim Wu, a Grade 11 student of Victory Christian International School. He won P25,000, a medal, trophy and certificate. The first runner-up is Mohammad Nur Casib, a student of the Philippine Science High School-Central Mindanao Campus in Lanao del Norte. He won P20,000, a medal, trophy and certificate. Raphael Dylan Dalida of the Philippine Science High School-Main Campus was second runner-up. He won P15,000, a medal, trophy and certificate. Two special awards were also given to Kristen Steffi Teh of the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School as the Top Female Contestant and Jerome Austin Te of Jubilee Christian Academy as the Top Junior Contestant award.Â
