Mazda and the Manila Sports Car Club kicks off the 2023 MSCC Miata Spec Series


Mazda Philippines and the Manila Sports Car Club (MSCC) announced the return of their one-make race, the MSCC Miata Spec Series for 2023 on March 9, 2023. Twentytwo racers will be on the grid in track tuned Mazda MX-5s this year, and the races will be held at both the Clark International Speedway (CIS) and the
Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC).

Last year’s overall champion, Allan Uy, rivals Angie King, Tyson Sy, as well as Windy Imperial, Master Class Champion and Novice Class Champion Jamal Almario will return this year. Some of the new drivers on the grid this year are Red Diwa, Tonypet Albano, and Mandy Eduque.

“After the success of the MSCC Miata Spec Series last year, we couldn’t wait to get going again this 2023,” shares Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines. “This one-make format provides a unique opportunity for MSCC members to polish their skills and enjoy the pure essence of driving that only an MX-5 can provide.”

The first two races set for April 15 and June 24 will run at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) and the final two races will scheduled for August 26 and October 28 will run at the Clark International Speedway (CIS).

Pilipinas Shell continues their partnership with Mazda, supplying fully synthetic Shell Helix Ultra Professional lubricants and Shell V-Power now fuels the the 2023 MSCC Miata Spec Series MX-5s. They’re all equipped with GT Radial Champiro SX2 tires, by Giti Tire group distributed by Northern Automax Intersales Inc. and B.R.M.
