EPD, SONAR ink MOA to improve police training for assistance, rescue ops
The Eastern Police District (EPD) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Special Operations Network for Assistance and Rescue (SONAR) on Monday, March 20, to enhance the training capacities of its police force in assistance and rescue operations.
The brief signing ceremony was conducted during the weekly flag raising program at the EPD Conference Room on Caruncho Avenue in Barangay Malinao, Pasig City at around 2 p.m.
Among the signatories were EPD district director Brig. Gen. Wilson C. Asueta, and SONAR President Ramon S. Fernando Jr.
Personnel from the District Community Affairs and Development Division (DCADD), led by Col. Reynan V. Patam, EPD Command Group and District Staff, as well as police representatives from the Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan (PAMAMARISAN) police stations witnessed the event.
The MOA aimed to strengthen the partnership of the EPD and SONAR in order to build a better police force that will facilitate a "more peaceful and progressive Metro East."
SONAR, a branch under the EPD Command Group, specializes in disaster and relief operations with military and medical training under the Philippine National Police (PNP).
According to the EPD, the MOA seeks to "continue the plans and programs of EPD when it comes to the operational training activities for PNP personnel and the community anchored on the five pillars of Self-Development which are: Knowledge, Skills, Strength, Values and Service (KSSVS)."
It was also made in line with the PNP's peace and security framework, as well as the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government (SILG)'s "Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA)" program.
