'Birada Semana' in Western Visayas nets P7.2-M shabu, 248 fugitives

ILOILO CITY – Police seized suspected shabu worth P7.2 million from March 13 to 19 under the anti-crime campaign dubbed “Birada Semana” across Western Visayas.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 chief Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco said 77 drug personalities were arrested in 59 operations. Bulk of the illegal drugs were seized by the Iloilo City Police Office and Bacolod City Police Office. Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said 248 wanted persons were also apprehended – 43 most wanted persons and 205 other wanted persons (OWPs). Eighteen persons were nabbed for illegal possession of firearms and 148 guns and 21 explosives were recovered. One-hundred fifty-eight persons were arrested for illegal gambling.
