Man shot dead while sleeping, suspect killed by barangay tanod in Laguna


CALAMBA CITY, Laguna -- A man was shot dead while sleeping in his house on Saturday evening, Feb. 4, at Barangay Lawa in this city.

The victim was identified as Roilan Ilao who died on the spot after he was shot by the alleged gunman identified as Randy Perez around 11 p.m.

While about to escape, the suspect was killed as he allegedly violently resisted and fought back with the responding members of Barangay Public Safety Officers and concerned citizens.

The suspect who sustained serious injuries was brought to JP Rizal Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Calamba City police are still investigating the killer's motive.

Meanwhile, a high-value individual was gunned down by police during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit also on Saturday night at Pamana Homes in Barangay Bucal.

Sensing that he was transacting with a police officer, Roi Dominique Urbiztondo drew his firearm and shot police corporal Carag twice but missed both.

Carag’s companion, Police Staff Sergeant Hizon was forced to defend and shot back, hitting Urbiztondo.

The suspect was also sent to JP Rizal Hospital by Calamba City police but was also declared dead on arrival.
