Antipolo Cathedral invites Marian devotees to join 1st Saturday devotion, other Lenten activities

The Antipolo Cathedral, otherwise known as the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City, is inviting Marian devotees to attend the first Saturday devotion in honor of the Nuestra Seńora Dela Paz Y Buenviaje (Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage), popularly known as the “Our Lady of Antipolo," and other Lenten activities. The official Facebook page of the cathedral, the Birhen ng Antipolo-Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, announced that this coming Saturday, March 4, the cathedral will carry out the traditional first Saturday devotion. Starting with the praying of the Holy Rosary and novena at 4 p.m., it will be followed by a Eucharistic celebration at 5 p.m., The religious event is expected to gather devotees from the city proper and nearby towns in the province. Right after the Holy Mass, the choir will sing the “Salve Regina” as the image of the Our Lady of Antipolo is brought down from the altar.  As it passes under the choir loft located near the exit gate of the cathedral, there will be a shower of rose petals before the image is transferred to its boat-like caroza (float) in preparation for the late afternoon procession. The procession will start following the mass and will pass along the streets in the vicinity of the cathedral before going back to the cathedral where a short ceremony of the return of the image to its altar will happen. Aside from the Saturday devotion event, the cathedral also opened to the public an exhibit of religious images that are related to the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ at the Mater Dei Hall of the cathedral. The exhibit of Lenten images from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will run until March 5. Also part of the Lenten activities are the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary from 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; the Holy Hour every Thursday of Lent at 4 p.m.; Stations of the Cross every Friday at 4 p.m.; and confession every Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a Kumpisalang Bayan (mass confession) at the cathedral on April 3 at 7 p.m. as part of the Kwaresma 2023 activities at the cathedral.
