Rod Stewart cancels concert due to mysterious illness

Sir Rod Stewart canceled his performance at the last moment because of a mysterious illness, according to several accounts. The 78-year-old singer broke the news on Instagram, just six hours before he is due to appear on stage with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens for the A Day In The Green Tour in Australia.

Rod's full post on social media: "Hello, my friends. I am absolutely downhearted that I am disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green. "Late this morning, I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing. "I am only human and sometimes get sick just like you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I'm doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage," said Rod.
Live Nation and Roundhouse Entertainment confirmed Rod's announcement. "We apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience for ticket holders. A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week," the statement read. Rod's fans wished him well in the comment section of his post. Some comments: "You're in our hearts, you're in our souls. Get well soon! Bless you."
