'Infrastructure is progress'; continuity vital --- PBBM
"Ang imprastraktura ay kaunlaran (Infrastructure is progress)."
This is why President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. decided to push through with 71 of the infrastructure projects of the previous Duterte administration, saying they would help bring in a better Philippines.
Marcos said this after he approved 194 high-impact infrastructure projects worth around P9 trillion last week.
In his latest vlog, the President said 123 of the 194 projects were initiatives of his administration. At the same time, the remaining 71 were started during the latter part of the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Marcos, he decided to continue these projects because doing otherwise would derail plans to build a better Philippines.
"Meron tayo kung minsan na ugali dito sa Pilipinas at sa ibang lugar din na kapag nagbago ang administrasyon, ang pag-iisip ay lahat ng nakaraan na ginawa ng dating administrasyon ay tinitigil dahil sinasabi walang magandang nangyari. Hindi naman tama 'yun (We have this attitude here in the Philippines and also in other countries if the adminstration changes, the mindset is to stop what the previous administration had done because they were supposedly not good. That's wrong)," he said.
"Kung maganda naman ang proyekto, bakit hindi natin itutuloy? Hindi 'yan ang pag-iisip na magdadala sa atin sa bagong Pilipinas (If the project is good, why should we stop it? That's not the attitude that will bring us to the new Philippines)," he added.
President Marcos further explained that continuing a previous administration's project was only fitting if it had undergone study and would benefit the people.
"Ang imprastraktura ay kaunlaran, lalo na at kasama nito ay masusing pag-aaral (Infrastructure is progress, especially if it comes with a thorough study)," he said.
"Sa ganitong paraan, walang masasayang na pondo dahil ang bawat proyekto ay mapapakinabangan ng mamamayan (That way, no fund will be wasted because every project will benefit the people)," he added.
