Duran Duran reunites with cancer-stricken Andy Taylor for new album

The British band Duran Duran gathers together with teammate Andy Taylor, who suffers from stage 4 prostate cancer, to create a new album. Lead singer Simon Le Bone, 64, will work on several songs with Andy in the guitarist's studio in Ibiza. The new album is scheduled to be released sometime this year.

In November, Simon was devastated when he learned about Andy's declining condition. Andy missed the Rock "N Roll Hall of Fame, where Duran Duran was inducted. "It is absolutely devastating news to find out that a colleague, no, not a colleague, a mate, a friend, one of our family, is not going to be around for very long," said Simon, according to a report by mirror.co.uk.
John Taylor, bassist for the band, said: “When he dropped the bomb two days before the Hall of Fame, it was really shocking and terribly sad. We’re working on an album right now that is going to be coming out at the end of the year, and he’s playing guitar.

“Had he come to LA and just gone on the TV show, we probably wouldn’t have even thought about it. That [the album] happened as a result of this. There are a lot of cover songs on the album, songs meaningful to us when we were kids. So having him be a part of that project is great.”
Andy, 62, left the band in 2006. In the Hall of Fame ceremony, Andy wrote a letter to his fans, which Simon read.
"Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease, and of course, we are no different, so I speak from the perspective of a family man, but with profound humility to the band, the greatest fans a group could have, and this exceptional accolade.

"I’m truly sorry and massively disappointed I couldn’t make it. Let there be no doubt I was stoked about the whole thing — even bought a new guitar with the essential whammy!" added Andy.
Duran Duran rose to fame in the 80s with the songs "The Reflex," "New Moon On Monday," "Save A Prayer," "A View To A Kill," "Rio," "Hungry Like the Wolf," etc.
