DPWH undertakes P135-M rehab projects to boost Sorsogon agri and marine industries

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said that the rehabilitation of two revetment structures worth P135 million in the towns of Gubat and Juban will spur the agricultural and marine development in Sorsogon.

Situated in Barangays Bagacay and Paco in the municipality of Gubat and Cogon in Juban town, DPWH Region 5 Director Virgilio Eduarte noted that the project has a combined length of one kilometer with the dikes in Gubat and Juban areas ensuring the security of the coastal communities and safeguard of their source of livelihood.

He stressed that the primary objective of the rehabilitation project is to ensure the provision of safe and reliable infrastructure facilities.

Eduarte explained that the project was implemented to “serve as catalyst in improving rural economy through easy and low transportation costs of agricultural and marine products from neighboring barangays to the town proper.”

“The municipalities of Gubat and Juban are known for their breathtaking natural scenery which attracts investors and tourists,’’ the DPWH noted.
