Fashion designer Christian Dalogaog presents his love letter to friends and customers

Championing Filipino style has always been at the core of Ched Studio. With its artisanal design approach, the local fashion brand has produced collections that marry arts, history, and pop culture references with Filipino craftsmanship. This time, it presents its latest collection at Bench Fashion Week (BFW) spring-summer 2023, which is described as its “love letter to friends and customers.” “We wanted to share our story, passion for what we do, and thoughts with everyone despite the hate and bigotry that have been prevalent in our society,” the brand says. “The collection is our statement that while we are going through tough times, we are always grateful." Led by designer Christian Dalogaog, Ched Studio’s “The Greatest Hits” capsule collection features men’s and women’s pieces that are nostalgic yet very contemporary—like traditional Filipino wear meets disco glamor. Barongs are reimagined with delicate flora and fauna details. Among our favorites are his all-black opening piece, a lace polo shirt paired with a trouser skirt, and the white barong with koi fish embroideries styled with red sequinned pants. Completing his collection are dresses adorned with floral appliques and fringe that glimmer under the fiery tones of the sunset lighting. “This capsule collection is a reflection of our state of mind and emotions,” Christian says. “It's about grounded optimism. Colors that are high in spirit, but not entirely happy colors. It's not about decadence. We want to show fragility and real, quiet strength.” Fashion may not be the sole solution to our problems today, but, as seen in Christian’s collection, it can be a tool to spread joy, beauty, love, and, above all, hope to other people.
