The first Kadiwa ng Pangulo store in the Bicol Region generated a total of P1.2 million in sales since it opened two days ago, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said on Sunday, March 19. According to PCO's statement, “more Filipino sellers and consumers are enjoying the benefits” of the program personally launched by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in Pili, Camarines Sur. The first day of the opening of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program reached P431,162 in sales, while the second day generated P780,912. This led to a total of P1,212,074. So far, the Marcos administration has launched more than 500 Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlets nationwide. There was also a special unit of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo—KNP Para sa Manggagawa—at the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) head office in Quezon City. Meanwhile, the PCO reported that the Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Cebu City posted a total sales of P931,329. The program’s continuing expansion nationwide is part of the Marcos administration’s goal of directly bridging farmers and consumers. Through the Kadiwa ng Pangulo, Filipino farmers, fisherfolk and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can sell their produce directly to the consumers. The chief executive also earlier noted that the initiative provides consumers access to affordable basic necessities amid the rising inflation in the country. The program, he added, can assist MSMEs, which comprised 90 percent of the businesses in the country, to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
