A Philippine Scops owl was rescued by Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) personnel in Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan on Thursday, March 16.
According to BENRO department head Atty. Julius Victor C. Degala, Scops owl is considered endemic species in the Philippines.
BENRO said Eliza Bazcoa, a concerned citizen in Sitio Manggahan, reported to them about the endemic owl.
The rescued owl is approximately six inches tall and 700 grams in weight.
Degala encourages the public to report this type of wildlife capture to the authorities immediately.
The owl was then immediately turned over to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Guiguinto, Bulacan.
