Pasig LGU, Foton offer P1M grant to top senior high researchers
The Pasig City local government, in partnership with Foton Motors Philippines Incorporated, will offer research grants worth up to P1 million to senior public high school students with the best research papers in the city.
The memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed on Wednesday, March 15, at the Pasig City Science High School.
Among the signatories were Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Foton Philippines President Rommel Sytin, and Pasig Schools Division Office (SDO) Superintendent Evalou Agustin.

Pasig City Vice Mayor Robert “Dodot” Jaworski, City Councilors Simon Romulo Tantoco and Corazon Raymundo, along with staff and some students of Pasig Science High School were also present during the short ceremony. Through the MOA, senior high students in the city’s public schools will be given the opportunity to showcase their research papers as they compete to win the Foton Research Award. The winners of the best research paper, to be judged and chosen by the Pasig SDO in this year’s school-based research festival, will be given a financial grant amounting to P1 million. The total amount of the grant will be divided equally among the winners. The initiative aims to give further incentives to young students to create innovative and relevant research projects, resulting in outputs that can be beneficial or positively contribute to their respective educational fields and the city as a whole. The monetary reward also seeks to help the students fund and pursue their future college education. The public-private partnership was originally proposed by Councilor Tantoco through Resolution No. 162-2023. “To all the students of Pasig City, we hope that in the future - once you have achieved your dreams, you give back to the city of Pasig,” Tantoco said in a post on his social media page.
