ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police seized smuggled cigarettes valued at P2.5 million in a parked vehicle here on Thursday, March 16.

Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) information officer, said Zamboanga City Police Station 6 personnel were passing by Don Toribio St. in Barangay Tetuan when they spotted men unloading boxes of cigarettes from a multicab. Lawmen approached the vehicle to investigate but the laborers scampered and left the multicab with boxes of cigarettes. Police found 69 cases of cigarettes valued at P2.52 million. The contraband was turned over to the Bureau of Customs for disposition.
