The Lady Bulldogs (4-1), who are coming off back-to-back victories last week, are seeking to continue their fiery run when it meets with the Lady Tamaraws (3-3) at 3 p.m. After crumbling from the top and seeing its 20-game winning streak come to an end, NU is looking to keep itself sharp and primed against the progressing FEU before wrapping up its first elimination round campaign with De La Salle on March 22. Last season’s Rookie-Most Valuable Player Bella Belen and graduating libero Jen Nierva, who were benched in NU’s four-set win over University of the Philippines last March 8, have rediscovered their reliable form just in time before they head into their big game. On the other hand, FEU, which pulled off its own escape act against University of the East last March 15, will be facing a tall task in its last matchup of the first round against the reigning champion. In the earlier play, University of Santo Tomas (4-2) is seeking to bring a fitting end to its own first round campaign with a win when it tussles with UE (0-6) at 11:00 a.m. The Golden Tigresses have had up-and-down results in the first part of the tournament after their five-set upset win over the Lady Bulldogs last March 4, which was briefly followed by a straight-set beating at the hands of the Adamson Lady Falcons. The Eya Laure-led UST, though, will be exploiting the winless UE, which hasn’t found its breakthrough in the season yet. The Lady Warriors got its last taste of win in the second round of Season 84 over the Lady Tamaraws.
