A prayer room for Muslim congressmen and employees is being readied in the House of Representatives in time for Ramadan.
This was confirmed Friday, March 17 by House Committee on Muslim Affairs Vice Chairperson and Maguindanao and Cotabato City 1st district Rep. Bai Dimple Mastura.
The designated Muslim prayer room in the House during the month of Ramadan is Conference Room 6 inside the Ramon V. Mitra (RVM) building. The RVM building is located at the northern side of Batasan Complex in Quezon City.
"Plan ko din i-launch siya on Wednesday (I plan to launch it on Wednesday)," Mastura said, referring to March 22, which is the final session day before Congress goes on its lengthy summer break.
A Facebook post from the lady solon Thursday, March 16 showed that the particular room is already being readied as far the layout and needed materials are concerned.
Ramadan is the holy month for fasting in the Muslim world. It will stretch between March and April.
Mastura said that Andaya Hall within the main building of Batasan Complex had been used as Muslim prayer room during past session days.
It was Mastura who requested from House Speaker Martin Romualdez last year that a prayer room be provided for Muslim members and workers in the current 19th Congress.
