'Sukli' stabbing: Man who defended wife from irate customer stabbed to death in Gen. Trias

CAVITE – A man was stabbed to death after defending his wife from an irate customer inside their store in General Trias City here on Tuesday, March 14. The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the victim as Vergel Ariate Cadiz Jr. Chief Master Sergeant Brendo Llanza of General Trias City Police Station (CPS) told the Manila Bulletin that the suspect, Margesar L. Hernandez, reportedly uttered bad words at the victim’s wife due to a disagreement about his change, leading to a heated argument. During the squabble, the suspect got hold of a knife and stabbed the victim in the throat and neck. The victim was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving medical treatment. The suspect, on the other hand, resisted arrest when authorities responded to the incident. Armed with a knife, he tried to assault the responding police, pushing authorities to shoot him in the leg. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
