For President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., it was a happy occasion to see for himself the projects that the national and local governments have been doing for Bicolanos in Camarines Sur, the hometown and stronghold of his erstwhile rival for the presidency, former Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Of course, while I am here, I am happy to be here, to be able to see na marami na ‘yung ginagawa (that we are doing a lot of things), that we are breaking ground doon sa mga (in the) housing project, that the Kadiwa is spreading. We are now going to go to a coconut processing center, so it’s good to be able to come out and actually see for yourself,” he said.
He shared his talk with a farmer earlier, whom he asked about farm yield, water issues, and extent of government aid, among others.
Aside from farming problems, Marcos also discussed with the local residents government's programs on housing projects, improving internet connectivity issues, and minimizing power interruption.
The President said this is what he does every time he goes outside Manila, so he is assured that what was being reported to him by subordinates is what’s actually happening on the ground.
“We have to talk to the people,” Marcos asserted.
He expressed hope that people can see how his administration is working to fulfill his campaign promises.
“So, I am always very happy to come out here. I suppose that I can attribute that support that people are showing, the enthusiasm is because I hope that they can see na kung ano man ang pinangako namin nung kampanya ay sinusubukan naming itupad lahat ng aming sinasabi, pinag-usapan that whatever we promised during the campaign, we are trying to fulfill all we said),” the chief executive said.
“At nakikita naman ng tao kahit na hindi pa tapos eh talagang meron na tayong sinimulan (And the people can see that although it isn’t finished yet, we have started something),” Marcos added.
Marcos was in Pili, Camarines Sur to launch the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program there, where the Sangguniang Panlalawigan also passed a resolution declaring him an adopted son of the province.
