Pasay LGU to provide free cervical screening and HPV vaccination
The Pasay City government will conduct cervical screening and HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccination of all women in the city as part of the celebration of National Women’s Month on March 23- 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Malibay Evacuation Center.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the second cervical screening program will be held on March 30-31 at the Pasay City Astrodome.
She urged women, 20-59 years old, to take the opportunity being offered by the city government and be part of the “Juana be Healthy” program.
The mayor said the medical team that will conduct the cervical screening will use the method of visual inspection with acetic acid.
Rubiano said visual inspection with acetic acid is a naked -eye examination of the uterine cervix after the application of 5 percent acetic acid with the result interpreted after one minute
She said the method is a simple and inexpensive test for the detection of cervical precancerous lesions and early invasive cancer.
The mayor said children 9-14 years old may also receive HPV vaccines and must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
Those interested may coordinate with the health center in their barangay.
